Do you remember the last time you hunted for Easter eggs?
It may have been this past weekend. It may have been long ago. Either way, I think there’s a lot we can learn from hunting for eggs that applies to prosperity.
Often, prosperity seems hidden. Tucked away. Some people know where it’s hidden. Others are standing around their financial baskets feeling less than full.
On a recent morning, when I was checking my financial basket – i.e., bank account – I felt like someone had taken some of my Easter eggs.
I expected it to be fuller.
The first thing I noticed was there was a charge for gas on a day I knew I hadn’t gotten gas. There were also transactions missing from the app, so I opened my browser, logged into my bank account, and found the missing numbers.
That made me feel slightly better.
But… what was the charge at the gas station? Had someone somehow gotten hold of my information and used it? With all the talk about scams, fraud, and other nefarious deeds, my anxious mind went there.
If they did, would I soon see more money draining from my account?
I wanted to find out, so I kept searching for the answer.
Every time I go searching for missing financial information, I’m reminded of the time in corporate when I spent two months looking for a single penny in a multi-million-dollar bank account. Talk about looking for a needle in a haystack!
I’ll save the details of that story for another time. Other than to say, I did eventually find it.
Back to the gas charge. Upon closer inspection, everything with the transaction looked legitimate. Only, I still knew I hadn’t gotten gas that day.
Since I check my accounts daily, I didn’t have to dig too far into my memory banks to find the problem. While I hadn’t gotten gas that day, I did remember that I had bought motor oil. Solution found!
My car uses oil, so I check it regularly. Similarly, my memory leaks, so I find checking my bank balances frequently helps ensure I have enough to keep things running smoothly.
On the path to prosperity, it’s essential that you track the numbers (the measure) and the story (the meaning). When you have the clues to find both, the path is much more pleasant.
Shine brightly!
