Clear Targets are Easier to Hit

Sometimes, we overcomplicate things. We want things to be just right, so we put in a lot of effort to bring them into existence.

In doing so, we sometimes forget that all we wanted was a simple answer.

I’m prone to doing a lot of research. I love going down the research rabbit trail. Every new discovery adds to the experience.

The problem is going down those research rabbit holes can make that simple answer much more complex. Especially, when you go to share your experience with others.

I had a client call today that had me wondering what path I was being led down. Where were we headed. There were many side trails and added benefits. Lots of content. Little clarity.

It’s path I’ve headed down myself many times myself. In fact, it’s a question I’m usually asking myself every time I write something I’m going to publish. Am I being clear? Is it easy to see where this is headed?

The clearer I can make the target for the article, the easier it is for me to hit it.

Did I hit the target with this post?

What struggles have you had in being clear with the message you’re delivering?
