How has your 2022 been?
I was feeling a little uneasy about how I was finishing out the year. There were things left unsaid, tensions that had built up over time, and I wasn’t sure I was ready to let the year go.
Then I did something I did at the end of last year that has proven to be a highlight of 2022. I wrote a letter.
As 2021 was ending, I and a group of collaborators (chief among them Olivia Vo, Irma Goosen, and Mila Johansen) were putting the final touches on our anthology, Heart Notes. In that book, each contributor wrote a letter to matters of the heart. From abundance to grief to legacy and beyond.
It was a great feeling to hold the printed book in my hands.
It was also a helpful exercise to write to matters of my heart: abundance, little wins, and money.
By writing a letter to money, my relationship with money has gone from resistance and negligence to acceptance and growth.
Today, I sat down to write a letter to 2022 feeling uneasy about the year. As I poured out my heart, my feelings began to change. I finished the letter recognizing that while the year had its painful moments, it has also been a year of growth and joy. My relationship with money keeps improving. I now look forward to taking what the year has given me, the gifts and the struggles, to create an even richer 2023.
Shine Brightly,
Stef
